How to create a backup(only theme)

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 23 views

Creating a backup of your theme is essential before performing updates, installing plugins, or making major changes. This ensures that you can restore your theme files if anything goes wrong.

⚠️ Note: This guide covers theme backup only. Database and content backups must be handled separately.

Step 1: Access Themepul Backup Manager

  1. Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Themepul Framework → Theme Updates → Backup Manager.

Step 2: Create a Theme Backup

  1. In the Backup Manager, click Create Backup or Backup Now (button name may vary).
  2. The system will automatically package your theme files into a backup archive.
  3. Wait until the process completes. You will see a success message once your theme is backed up.

Step 3: Download the Backup (Optional but Recommended)

  1. After creating the backup, locate the backup file in the Backup Manager.
  2. Click Download to save a local copy to your computer.

This ensures you have an offline copy in case of server issues.

Step 4: Restore Theme from Backup (If Needed)

  1. In the Backup Manager, click Restore Backup next to the backup you want to restore.
  2. Confirm the restoration. The system will replace your current theme files with the backup version.
  3. Visit your site to verify that everything is functioning correctly.

Tips for Safe Theme Backup

  • Always create a theme backup before updating the theme or installing new plugins.
  • Keep multiple versions of your theme backup in case you need to revert to an older version.
  • Use the Download option to maintain an offline copy for additional security.
  • Remember: Theme backup does not include database or content. Use a separate backup plugin for full site backups.
